    How to Clean Electronics Correctly

Our electronics see plenty of daily use, and that leads to lots of dirt, dust, and fingerprints. While it might be tempting to grab your favorite house cleaning products and wipe them down, you can damage your electronics and/or void their warranty if you use the wrong product.

The good news is, there are safe ways to clean all of your favorite tech. Here is our guide on how to clean electronics correctly from the team at Buzz Electrical.

    How to Clean Computers

You’ll need to use a couple of different cleaning methods for your keyboard, your mouse, and your monitor or laptop screen.

    Keyboard

Dust off everything with a simple microfiber cloth. Use a clean paintbrush to remove dust from between your keyboard keys and other small crevices. For tougher dirt or food stains, try using some canned air or a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.

    Mouse

Cleaning your mouse is pretty similar to your keyboard, but it usually requires less detail work with brushes or swabs. Just use a cotton pad or cloth dipped in a little rubbing alcohol.

    Screen

Be careful when cleaning your computer screen. LCD monitors are sensitive to touch, and if you rub them too hard you can accidently burn out some of their pixels. Use a microfiber cloth with just a dab of water, or a little bit of white vinegar for especially tough dirt stains.

How to Clean Phones and Tablets

With touchscreen technology, you don’t have to worry as much about damaging the screen. Take a microfiber cloth and spray it with a mixture of distilled water and vinegar. Do not spray your phone or tablet directly, because if your device gets wet it can void your warranty.

How to Clean Blu-ray Players and Gaming Consoles

Dust has a tendency to collect on cable boxes, Blu-ray/DVD players, and gaming consoles. Fortunately, loose dust is pretty easy to remove safely. Use the soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to get the first round of dust. Then follow up with a microfiber cloth.

    How to Clean Remotes

Start off by disinfecting your remotes. Pour some rubbing alcohol onto a cotton pad, or use alcohol wipes to clean them off. Use a toothpick or a cotton swab to get food or dirt stuck in the tiny crevices of the buttons.

We hope this guide on how to clean electronics correctly helps you keep your technology in its best shape!
